Falukorv, a classic ingredient on Swedish dinner tables. In the16th-century Dalarna, German guest workers at the Falu copper mine began making smoked sausage from beef remaining after slaughter. Gustav Vasa was fleeing from Christian II's soldiers during the winter of 1520–1521. According to legend, he fled on skis. The drama in Dalarna in the winter of 1520–21 set the stage for the Vasalopp.

The brown bear can be recognized by its large head, small eyes and ears and the hump over the front bow/shoulder area.
Stora stöten is a giant hole that was formed when parts of the Falu copper mine collapsed on June 25, 1687. The cause of the collapse was the intensive mining and the planless driving of settlements. The hole is now 300–400 meters in diameter and barely 100 meters deep.
