Genista is Halland's province flower. It is a small rice-like shrub that grows 2 to 3 decimeters high. It blooms in May-June with yellow flowers that sit in clusters at the top.
Salmon, Halland's province animal. The Atlantic salmon is reddish and turns light pink when cooked. The salmon are typically anadromous: they hatch in the shallow gravel beds of freshwater headstreams and spend their juvenile years in rivers, lakes and freshwater wetlands, migrate to the ocean as adults and live like sea fish, then retur not their freshwater birthplace to reproduce.
Hour glass in Svartrå church The church is from the 12th century. The pulpit is from around 1700, a bit unusual is the 18th century hourglass that is by the pulpit, held by a sculpted hand.
Äskhults village. The four farms from the 18th-19th century are unpainted and shimmer beautifully silver gray around the small village square. A large agriculture reform took place in 1827 but these farms were not affected and remained in their original places, and this is unique in Sweden.
Sandy beaches. Many of Sweden's finest beaches are Halland. Tylösand, Apelviken and Skrea strand are well-known and popular beaches.
Tullbron (The toll bridge) in Falkenberg, the construction began in 1756 and was completed five years later. Until 1914, you had to pay a toll to cross the bridge, hence the name Tullbron. (The Toll bridge).
Li burial field at Fjärås Bräcka is Halland's largest from the Viking Age. The stones have been almost twice as many, but several disappeared when gravel was taken from the site in the past. The burial field has around 160 ancient remains, of which four burial mounds, 24 round and seven oval or ship-shaped stone placements
and 127 raised stones.
Varbergs kallbadhus was built in 1903 in oriental style and stands on stilts in the sea by the Boardwalk in Varberg. Here you can bathe naked in separate men's and women's sections, both equipped with saunas.
Nidingen is a sea area skerry with a lighthouse station. The island has with its surrounding reefs always posed a danger to shipping. The three lighthouses on the island, one of which is active, are today protected as heritage buildings.
Bockstensmannen are the remains of a man who was found in a bog in Halland and is considered to have died around 1350–1370. The man had been killed and impaled to the bottom of a lake which later became a bog. The find is unique because it is Europe's only completely preserved medieval male costume.
E6 or Europaväg 6 is a Freeway in western Sweden, with the route Svinesund-Trelleborg, it is 480 kilometers long within Sweden.
Varberg’s Fortress was built in 1287-1300 by Count Jacob Nielsen as protection against Eric VI of Denmar, who had declared him an outlaw after the murder of his father King Eric V of Denmark. Jacob had close connections with King Eric II of Norway and as a result got substantial Norweigian assistance with the construction. The fortress, as well as half the county, became Norwegian in 1305. In the fourteenth century the fortress was expanded to include a castle.
Borrå's gorge is a 100 meter long, 10 meter deep and 1-2 meter wide rock gorge near Väröbacka. It is probably formed by flowing water from the ice sheet or by a crack formation with displacement. The mountain was probably used as an ancient fortress during the Iron Age.
Lagan, Nissan, Ätran, Viskan is the names of the four largest rivers in Halland
The radio station in Grimeton has been on the UNESCO World Heritage List since 2004. It contains a working electromechanical long wave transmitter for telegraphy with associated antenna system from the early 1920s. The six antenna towers stand in a row and are 127 meters high. The entire facility has been preserved in its former condition and is today the only operable electromechanical transmitter in the world.
