The Star of Bethlehem shines on top of the quilt. Below we have a dark landscape with thujas and moonlit mountains, Joseph leads the donkey that Mary is riding on. They are on their way to be taxed in the city of David to Bethlehem.. Next we see grapevines and in the radiance of light - the Angel of the Lord. The Angel spoke to the shepherds about the baby that was born in a stable and said, "Today a Savior has been born to you in the city of David." The shepherds listened and said, "Let us go into Bethlehem and see what has happened and what the Lord has told us." You see Bethlehem on its hills under the starry sky. Under the large trees the white flock of sheep surrounded by gesturing shepherds. Next we enter the stable, housed in a cave and lit by an oil lamp. Joseph watches over Mary with the baby Jesus in her arms. Mary's donkey is chewing on the straw on the floor. Three astrologers from the east also came to Jerusalem, they asked, “Where is the newborn king of the Jews? We have seen his star rise and come to pay tribute to him ". They brought with them gold, incense and myrrh. Joseph and Mary had to flee to Egypt with the baby Jesus and here you see the camel that carried Mary and the baby through the desert. Sand dunes rise around them and at the end a small oriental rug to sit on.
